Wind/thunderstorm-rain (isolated hailstorm) predicted in the country

Met office informed that a westerly wave is likely to affect upper and central parts from 07th May (night). Moist currents are also likely to penetrate central and southern parts of the country from 07th May. Under the influence of this weather system:
Kashmir:

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with isolated heavy rainfall/hailstorm) are expected in Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur from 07th (evening/night) to 12th May with occasional gaps.

Gilgit-Baltistan:

Rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche and Shigar from 08th to 12th May with occasional gaps.

Punjab/Islamabad:

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with isolated hailstorm) are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore from 07th (night) to 11th May with occasional gaps. while in Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Layyah, Bhakkar, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar and Pakpattan from 08th to 10th May with occasional gaps.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa:

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with isolated heavy fall/hailstorm) are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda and Nowshera from 07th (evening/night) to 12th May with occasional gaps. While, rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan from 08th to 10th May.

Balochistan:

Rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Sibbi, Musakhel, Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbella, Panjgur, Qilla Saifullah, Qilla Abdullah and Awaran from 07th (evening) to 10th May.

Sindh:

Rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur Jacobabad, Kashmore, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Umerkot and Mithi from 08th (evening) to 10th May.

Possible Impacts and advice:

  • Wind/dust-thunderstorm/hailstorm and lightning may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles and solar panels etc.

    Heatwave conditions predicted in the country from 26th to 30th April

    Met office predicted that a high pressure is likely to approach upper atmosphere from 26th April, and likely to grip most parts of the country on 27th April. Under the influence of this meteorological conditions:

    • Day temperatures are likely to remain 05 to 07°C above normal in southern half (Sindh, southern Punjab and Balochistan) from 26th April to 01st May.
    • Day temperatures are likely to remain 04 to 06°C above normal in upper half (central & upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan) from 27th to 30th April.

    A weather system is expected to enter upper parts of the country from 30th April. Rain-wind/thunderstorm (isolated heavyfalls/hailstorm) is expected in Kashmir, Islamabad, Pothohar region including northeast Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan from 30th April/01st May. This system will subside the heatwave conditions in the country from 01st May onwards.

    Possible Impacts and advises:
    • Due to heatwave conditions in the country, general public especially children, women and senior citizens are advised to take precautionary measures.
    • Avoid exposure to direct sun light during the day time and remain hydrated.
    • Farmers are advised to manage their crop activities (wheat harvesting) keeping in view the weather conditions and take care of their livestock as well.
    • Rising temperatures in northern areas may enhance snowmelt rate, especially from 27th April to 01st May.
    • Judicious use of water is requested in all fields of life.
    • Wind-dust storm/hailstorm and lightning may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles and solar panels in Islamabad, Pothohar region including northeast Punjab and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on 30th April/01st May.

    Heatwave conditions in Southern parts will continue till 18th April Rain-wind/thunderstorm is predicted in upper parts of the country with occasional gaps

    Heatwave conditions are likely to continue in Sindh, south Punjab and parts of Balochistan till 18th April. However, a westerly system is likely to enter upper parts on 16th (Evening), and likely to affect till 20th April. Under the influence of this weather system.

    • Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with few heavyfalls) are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Bunner, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Waziristan, Dra Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from 16th (evening/night) to 20th April with occasional gaps.     • Dust/thunderstorm-rain is expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Khushab, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh on 16th (evening) and from 18th (evening/night) to 20th April (morning). Isolated hailstorm may also occur during the forecast period.

    • Duststorm/gusty winds are also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Pakpattan Sharif, Vehari and Okara on 18th & 19th April.

    • Wind-dust storm/hailstorm and lightning may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles and solar panels etc.

    Heatwave conditions predicted in the country during the week

    Met office predicted that a high pressure is likely to grip the upper atmosphere from 13th April, due to which heatwave conditions may develop in most parts of the country and is expected to change into severe heatwave conditions in southern half from 14th (Monday).

    • Day temperatures are likely to remain 06 to 08°C above normal in southern half (Sindh, southern Punjab and Balochistan) from 13th to 18th April.
    • Day temperatures are likely to remain 04 to 06°C above normal in upper half (central & upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan) from 14th to 18th April.
    • Nights will also be warmer during the forecast period.
    • Excessive heating/rising temperatures may generate duststorm/windstorm during the forecast period.

    Heatwave like conditions in southern half of the country, Dust/thunderstorm-rain is predicted in northern parts of the country from 08th (evening/night) to 11th April with occasional gaps

    Met office predicted that temperatures are likely to remain 04 to 07 °C above normal in central/south Punjab, Sindh and parts of Balochistan on Tuesday/Wednesday.

    A shallow westerly wave is likely to enter upper parts of the country on 08th (evening/night) and may persist till 11th April. Under the influence of this weather system:

    Rain-wind/thunderstorm are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Bunner, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from 08th (evening/night) to 11th April with occasional gaps. Dust/thunderstorm-rain is expected in Potohar region (Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali and Jhelum) and northeast Punjab) Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore and Sheikhupura) during the period. Isolated hailstorm may also occur during the forecast period.

    Met Office predicted that a strong westerly wave is likely to approach western/upper parts of the country on 24th March (night) and affect upper and central parts from 25th to 27th March. Under the influence of this weather system:

    Gilgit Baltistan/Kashmir

    Gilgit Baltistan/Kashmir: Widespread rain-wind/thunderstorm (snow over mountains) with few heavy falls is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Guanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from 25th to 28th March with occasional gaps.

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

    Rain-wind/thunderstorm (snow over high mountains) with few heavy falls/hailstorms is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bunner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi from 25th to 27th March with occasional gaps. Rain-wind/thunderstorm is likely in Waziristan, Kohat, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu and D.I. Khan on 25th and 26th March. Isolated hailstorm is also expected during the period.

    Punjab/Islamabad

    Rain-wind/thunderstorm with few hailstorms is expected in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad from 25th to 27th March with occasional gaps. Rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, T.T Singh, Jhang, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif and Khanewal on 25th and 26th March.

    Balochistan

    Rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Musakhel, Chaman, Mastung, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Loralai, Barkhan, Sibbi, Khuzdar, Chaghi and Noshki on 25th and 26th March.

    Sindh

    Wind/duststorm is expected at isolated places in upper parts of the province from 25th and 26th March

    Possible Impacts and advises:
    • Wind-duststorm/hailstorm and lightning may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles and solar panels etc.
    • Moderate to few heavy rainfalls may cause landslides /slippery conditions on the roads in Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli during the forecast period.
    • Heavy rain may generate flash flood in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra on 26th & 27th March.
    • Tourists are advised to remain extra cautious and avoid unnecessary travelling during forecast period.
    • Windstorm/hailstorm may be destructive for the standing crops over the plains of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
