
Speech technologies in Indian languages
Language plays a vital role in communication among people as well as in accessing information and building an inclusive society. India is home to 22 constitutionally recognized languages English in spoken and written form is a grand technological challenge today. Another important barrier faced by many Indians is the interface-barrier of reading, writing and typing when dealing with automated systems as we progress towards Digital-India. Speech technologies provide a natural interface to overcome this barrier, achieving the goal of ‘One India’ in the digital landscape and contributing towards ‘Aatma Nirbhar-Bharat’.Activities
Speech processing is the study of speech signals and the processing methods of signals. The signals are usually processed in a digital representation, so speech processing can be regarded as a special case of digital signal processing, applied to speech signals
